The Navajo Sandstone found on the Paria Plateau comes in an unimaginable variety of colors and textures. This slice of land that straddles the Utah-Arizona boarder has been disproportionately blessed with some of the most photogenic bits of rock on the planet. I like to imagine that Mother Nature was the original abstract-expressionist. Below are some of the more unusual examples of geology I've found over the past several years while hiking and exploring this area.
